Bio
Biography of Josh Navin
As a graduate of the music production of sound technology program, my thirst for
knowledge and pursuit of creative inspiration in musical arts and audio tech, has been a life
long process that will never end, only grow.
Beginnings
My journey all started with five years of piano lessons when I was a child,
which only fueled my already strong love of music. I continued my musical education, through
all of grade school where I learned trumpet and saxophone, which I played in the school band
for eight years. Even out of school I could not get enough, so I took three years of guitar lessons,
which I have now been playing for thirteen years. I also started two bands, one lasted a year, and
the other I have been part of for 7 years now as lead guitar player, vocalist, and songwriter.
After a moderately successful, self taught, attempt at recording my band Backhand, I soon
realized where my true calling was, and what it would take to make it happen.
Thus my move Vancouver, a much busier music and entertainment enriched environment,
and enrolled at Stylus College of music and sound technology in the master of music pro-
duction and technology program.
Current
Now as a graduate of the full two year, eight semester masters program, my skill-set and confidence
in my skills is immeasurable. I worked very hard to achieve top marks throughout the program, and
have realized a passion for areas of the industry that I never would have thought prior.
I was asked to teach one of the first year courses in my last semester of the program, and I am currently teaching
two more classes this semester. It feels like it was only a short time ago that I started the program, but
its not until I reflect back upon how much knowledge and experience I have attained that I realize truly how
much has really been achieved.
The great diversity in my skill-set deffinitly leaves me with the upmost confidence that I can walk into any
situation, and be ready for any projects that come my way in a number of different areas of the music / audio
sector of the entertainment and multimedia industry.
